Welcome to The Greater Philadelphia Celiac Support Group!

OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON March 18th, 2016!!

Hello & Welcome to The Greater Philadelphia Celiac Support Group website!

My name is Ellen Gaffney and I have recently accepted the position as acting president of our group. We currently have approximately 400 members in our group and are still growing! Our support group meets twice a year at the Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, PA. Our designated meeting place is in the Lensfest Pavillion on the first floor.

The address is:

Abington Memorial Hospital

1200 Old York RD

Lensfest Pavillion

Abington, PA 19002

Phylis Brogan, founder of the group, started the group over 20 years ago. She started having the meetings in her living room until we expanded so much that it was moved to the location we have now. Without Phylis's help and guidance our group would have never formed. She was an extraordinary woman. Karen Dalyrmple took over and was president for the past 10 years. I took over the group last January.

The meetings are very informative for everyone.  There is generally a guest speaker that will discuss ways to cope with Celiac Disease and other related topics.  This is very helpful to newly diagnosed members as well as those of us that have been diagnosed for years.

We meet twice a year the third Friday in March and the third Friday in October.  I will be posting the meeting details on this website.

Vendors also join us with their delicious gluten free products to sample and purchase.  They

set up in an adjoining room at 5:15 PM on the date of the meeting.  The members come in at 5:45 PM so  that the members have ample time to shop and to meet and greet other Celiac Buddies and newly diagnosed members.  After the Meet and Greet, we go to our auditorium to listen to our guest speaker, which is at 7:30 PM, to learn as much as we can from the speaker to better our lives. The guest speaker talks for approximately 45 minutes to and hour with questions and answer session.

Please come out and join us at our next meeting! The cost to join our group is $25.00  When you join our group you get a huge binder with lots of information to help you get started on a gluten free diet and reference information to get you started. You will also receive 2 newsletters for more information about our upcoming meetings.  The membership every year after you join our group is $20.00 a year.

You can sign up when you come to one of our meetings or you can call me and I will be glad to give you all the information about this great group of fellow Celiacs. I can be reached at 484 684 6290.

Thank you!
